Luiz ABC Award

ABOUT THE AWARD:

The LUIZ ABC Award is a Student Competition designed to provide financial support to Master´s and/or PhD students to facilitate their participation to the 8th BRAZILIAN BIOTECHNOLOGY CONGRESS. Travel Awards will cover up to R$ 5,000 in expenses related to attending the meeting.

August 15th, 2025, at 11:59 PM (local time).

Please note that late submissions will not be considered.

CONFERENCE TIME FRAME:

May 19th to 22th, 2025 - Natal, RN.

ELIGIBILITY CITIZENSHIP:

Applicants can be Master and PhD students from Brazil and other countries.

REQUIREMENTS:

​

LETTER OF ENDORSEMENT:

Applicants are required to submit a Letter of Endorsement (on letterhead) from their immediate supervisor within their organization (e.g., Head of Department, Research Group Supervisor, or equivalent). This document is a critical component of the application and will be given significant weight during the selection process. The endorser must explicitly confirm the following:

a. The relevance and significance of the congress to the applicant's current research activities;

​

b. The applicant´s aptitude, capability, and potential to benefit meaningfully from the opportunity provided by the Travel Award;

​

c. The applicant’s overall scientific merit and accomplishments;

​

d. The quality of the applicant’s research and its potential to contribute to the development of a biotechnological product.

​

PROOF OF SCHOOLING:

Applicants must provide official proof of enrollment in a Master’s or PhD program, along with a link to their academic curriculum in the Lattes Platform or in an equivalent professional profile.

ATTENDANCE:

Applicants are not required to confirm their attendance at the conference when submitting their application. However, if awarded, recipients will be required to sign an official letter from the conference organizers confirming their commitment to participate in the event before the Travel Award payment is processed.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

When evaluating applications, the Selection Committee will consider the following criteria:

​

a. The content and strength of the Letter of Endorsement;

​

b. The scientific quality of the applicant’s research and its potential for biotechnological product development, as evidenced in the submitted abstract;

​

c. The applicant’s academic record as reflected in their Curriculum Lattes or equivalent platform.

​

NOTIFICATION:

Applicants will be informed of the outcome of the application by e-mail by August 15th, 2025.

​

AGREEMENT:

Successful applicants will be required to sign an Agreement incorporating the SBBIOTEC Travel Award terms and conditions.
